Keiji Tanaka is a skilled artisan who creates woodfired pottery in Shiga. He honed his craft under the guidance of the renowned Nanban woodfired potter, Shigeyoshi Morioka. As a result, Tanaka-san's pieces exhibit the distinctive Nanban woodfired yakishime style. He holds a deep admiration for the pottery of the ancient Japanese Jomon era (circa 1000 B.C.), and this influence is evident in the resemblance of his works to their characteristic shapes.
